Ngorongoro National Park

Location

Ngorongoro National Park is situated in the northern part of Tanzania, within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located approximately 180 kilometers (112 miles) west of Arusha. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers an expansive area of about 8,292 square kilometers (3,202 square miles), encompassing the Ngorongoro Crater and its surrounding highlands.

Landscape and Ecosystem

The park is dominated by the Ngorongoro Crater, which is the world's largest intact caldera and a remarkable geological feature. The crater's floor is a diverse ecosystem, featuring grasslands, woodlands, freshwater lakes, and swamps, which support a rich array of wildlife.
